I mentioned in my post on DOMS about that muscle soreness from workouts that typically starts 12-24 hours after a workout. For me, it’s the second day after a workout when it peaks, so when the first day is really bad, I dare not think of the next day. Over the years I have certainly had my share of pain since I would push too hard or jump into things without a warmup. So I am happy to report that while I definitely feel it, especially my calves, I am not debilitated.
Habitually, I always take the stairs when I get to work (I’m on the 4th floor) so I am definitely feeling it most when I walk down! I did forget to stretch after my first workout or use a foam roller the next day, both of which would have helped. So while it is not terrible I know it could have been less.
Still, the soreness is under control and I will be sure to warm up before today’s class. That’s really the trick – if your muscles are warmed up they are less sort. Worst is when I first get up in the morning or when sitting for a while.
