As expected, my muscle strength was a bit less since I am still recovering from Monday’s class, but I pressed on. The hardest part was keeping up with the moves. Lots of weird combinations I am not yet familiar with.
This time we drilled roundhouse kicks, which those who know me and my tight hips are saying ”ooooh boy” about now. Yeah, that went about as well as expected and my sparring partner was very supportive and patient.
Curious where it will hurt in the morning after that!
Oh, on the partner thing. I was dreading that. I pictured being the odd man out and last to be picked like I was in sports as a kid. Two guys came to me and then my new partner and I naturally fist-bumped our gloved hands instead of shaking. I felt like… I felt like a DUDE! I can’t help but giggle to myself since I am by far not the most traditionally masculine guy you will meet and I generally have no interest or concerns with fitting the ideal image of masculinity – tho I do strive to be a gentleman. So it was interesting suddenly feeling that dude-ness. All the people I have met in class have been supportive and friendly or just fixated on trying to survive the class.
