Week 2, Class 1
I was not feeling it today and really wanted to skip class. I knew if I did that I would regret it and such excuses pave the way to bad habits, so I promised myself I would just take it exercise by exercise, and pace my energy.
During workouts I also wanted to push myself, so I would just keep telling myself to just see how much I can do for each thing, I held my own but this was one of those days the instructor opted to push more than usual with his choices. (I thought it was just me but after class others made the same observation – this was a rough class.)
I had planned to make my escape after the first 30 minutes when we shift into Krav Maga skills (which is also formatted as a workout). When it was time to make the decision to flee instead of form sets of 3 partners, I saw two women who needed a 3rd and made the commitment to make it to the end. They were very supportive and of course, it gave me accountability. I could not just leave mid-way through that segment without messing their session up.
That segment was just as brutal and at least once my heart rate was definitely over my max and I took a moment to recover Tactfit style. I have to say, that system has done we well with recovery time,
After class, I walked to the train, tired, but with a strong steady pace. Looking forward to dinner when I get home! I am quite hungry and have a long commute ahead of me.
