This challenge includes the need to drink a lot of water. The ideal goal is a gallon, and the bare minimum is 50% of your body weight in ounces.
I was already increasing my water consumption by keeping a large 600ml water bottle at my desk at work. I usually fill it 3 times. Plus I have long had a habit of drinking a large glass of water as soon as I get up (a great practice, btw!). So to help improve on this I now keep a large water bottle at home which helps me better track how much I am drinking,
Someone made a joke on the private Facebook group of this challenge. It went something like this: This challenge has reduced the drama in my life since I am always in the bathroom. If you are doing this challenge or drinking as much water as I am you are giggling right now, admit it.
I find I get thirsty more now, which I was told was expected. Apparently, if you do not drink enough water normally your body assumes you are in a low water environment and adjusts by curbing your thirst. That does not mean it does not need the water, just that it does not waste its time telling you if it thinks you just can’t access the water needed. Once you start drinking more water your body recognizes you are in a water-available location and activates the thirst sensation mechanism. Science!
I should sit and do the math but I am confident I am well above the minimum requirement for water consumption. Just not sure how close I am to the ideal 1 gallon.
