The link between diet and exercise is not a new concept, but it was interesting to see it in action this weekend. On Saturday morning I was at my peak low so far of -2% body fat from day one, but since I had hurt my back friday night, I was completely sedentary Saturday and not very active Sunday.
While I kept to my nutritional plan for this 6-week challenge, I gained almost .2% body fat by Monday morning. Not the end of the world, and I know not to fixate on daily fluctuations. It’s just interesting to see the impact of a sedentary weekend and a reminder that my diet is designed around building muscle and thus dependent upon a certain level of exercise to be of value. The diet alone, while healthy, would not aid in weight loss without adjusting portions. Thus, eating healthy alone may do less than you think about your waistline depending on your level of activity.
