I think going keto will not be as bad as I was thinking. I am not worried about being anal about it so for now I am not fixated on counting macrobiotics (calculating total carbs, fat, protein). Instead I am going by feel. For example, I cut out sugar and unhealthy sweeteners completely. That was not tooooo hard since I had done much here, albeit with some liberties over the past year. I also started limited my main sources of carbs: rice, pasta, and oatmeal.
Hardest part has been tackling my relationship with FAT. We have so villainized fat and it turns out the issue with our dietary issues is more to do with the massive amount of carbs we eat, and the quality of the fat. There is much to learn – and unlearn – which is why I had avoided the ketogentic diet for so long. But I do feel it is less overwhelming now, especially since (thanks to plenty of critical thinking) I was able to find some good sources of information to break through some of the hype and misinformation out there (keto is quite trendy these days).
I am going to pace myself here. Dinners and most breakfasts are 100% keto, lunch is low carb while I burn through some of my existing groceries.
I am also exploring some supplements – very specific ones to fill in any possible nutritional holes in the food I am earing. I will share more on that tomorrow since that is when I am expecting delivery of what I have ordered. This is am much different approach to when I tried supplements when I was doing to krav maga challenge. Much of that was just to boost performance, and I was just trying what was recommended to try new things. I am purely interested in meeting my nutritional needs.
