So my normal morning routine the past 2 weeks as been:
- 15 mins of IntuFlow (a mobility primer) as a warm up
- 45 minutes of GMB’s Elements program as a functional mobility workout
- 5-10 mins of back-strengthening exercises and stretches (to undo damage of 2 years of sitting)
- and as of this week the Wim Hof breathing and cold shower routine.
I then make a point to go for a walk in town or a hike in the woods of varying intensity depending on my schedule.
Today, since I am still on holiday break, I took a nice extended walk in town to do some errands (3 miles) and then after lunch took a very challenging hike up a local mountain, just over 5 miles. Now that I have an iWatch I could monitor my heart rate. As expected, just as I got to the summit, I passed my maximum for heart rate (around 170 BPM) and slowed down a bit. For the bulk of the ascent I was happy to see I kept in decent range (135-145 BPM) with some spikes past 155 BPM.
