So I have been keeping to the Wim Hof practice – breathing and cold showers daily but I did not watch this past week’s video lesson until now. It was about stress, and most of it was same stuff you can get for free again but he did cover two important things (for me) when he was answering some questions of the students.
- When I enter the cold shower I should try to continue to breath deeply and not give in to the natural instinct to take shallow breaths from the chest. This will help me handle the ordeal better.
- Wim mentioned that if you get really cold and shiver to take a deep breath and sort of hold it where there is pressure in the chest at shoulder level. I forget the mechanics behind it but it helps to keep control of the core temperature.
I will have to remember to try it, especially since I shift to 45 seconds under the cold shower. 30 seconds was not so bad although today for some reason it really got to me – although I did stick with it.
This week I will watch the video lesson early on since the above gems would have made this past week go a little easier.
