Wow, 157.6lbs – I have not weighed this since high school.
So I have been thinking about next steps with my nutritional plan and I do not feel Keto is a good idea for long term for a few reasons.
- constipation. For me at least it has been too much effort to simply poo regularly and easily. I have been taking fiber supplements that helped to some extent but even with plenty of fluid it was constantly an issue and just not sustainable.
- The more I research this the more I see some of my sources are misinformed on some of this risks such as high bad cholesterol.
- Finding safet meats is a challenge. “grass fed” is too vague and misused. The food industry simply can’t be trusted.
What I am doing is a hybrid at the moment that uses some of the keto code concepts of Dr. Gundry as I shift into a predominately plant-based whole food diet, while maintaining my 2 meals a day. I try to sprout my beans and cool in pressure cooker to address lectin concern there.
I am still exploring what the final form of all this will be. In general the goal is to be mostly plant-based with freedom to enjoy meats when I travel or eat out (rarely) or simply enjoy eggs on the weekend. But by default be plant based.
This means phasing out dairy except or my rare treats, cutting back on all oils, and exploring healthier whold grain options like teff and sorghum. I invested in a pressure cooker and some sprouting trays since that will make nutrients more bioavailable and reduce lectins where possible.
Keto was a great way for a metabolic reset and helped me shift to 2 meals a day which I though would be impossible. As I transition I am certainly pooing much better, and alas farting a lot. In theory that should settle in a few week or so. I do feel more hungry again so need to be careful of snacking. I think this too will settle down as I adapt.
